Jury, who assumed the role of MultiChoice CEO in April of the previous year, is set to depart on 31 March 2025.
He previously held the position of CEO at SuperSport.
The company stated that Jury will continue working over the next four months to facilitate a smooth transition to his replacement, Byron du Plessis, who will become the MCSA CEO on 1 December 2024.
Du Plessis has been with MultiChoice for 13 years and is currently serving as the deputy chief financial officer for the group, having previously been the CFO for MultiChoice Corporate and MCSA.
As of the time of this report, it is unclear what the future holds for Jury, though an internal memo to staff suggested that he would ‘chase opportunities in the sports industry’.
A Recent Trend of Exits
Jury’s resignation follows a series of high-profile departures within the pay-TV operator in recent years.
In April of this year, Imtiaz Patel resigned as chairperson of MultiChoice. This occurred despite the announcement that he would remain in the role until the Canal+ deal was finalized.
Showmax CEO Yolisa Phahle also resigned in 2023, with Jury stepping in after her exit.
In 2022, Gideon Khobane, MultiChoice’s group executive for general entertainment, also left the organization.
Declining Subscriber Base
Jury’s leaving comes at a pivotal moment for MultiChoice, with subscriber numbers having significantly decreased – as extensively covered by The South African website.
The website also reported considerable losses for the six months ending 30 September 2024.
