Anthropic Is Seeking Talent for Its AI Chip Design Team

According to Business Insider, Anthropic is assembling a team to create its own custom chips tailored for AI applications.

The developer of Claude announced plans to collaboratively design both hardware and models to enhance the speed and efficiency of its technology. Recently, The Information reported that Anthropic is considering Samsung as a potential partner for chip development.

This move to create proprietary chips aligns with the increasing demand for Claude, as AI companies strive to secure as many AI infrastructure deals as possible.

Anthropic has established partnerships with AWS, Google, Nvidia, and AMD for AI computing hardware. However, to scale effectively and meet escalating demand, relying solely on external resources clearly falls short.

Anthropic is not alone in its pursuit; OpenAI revealed its Jalapeño chip, created by Broadcom, specifically for inference tasks in June. Google DeepMind has consistently utilized Alphabet’s TPU chips for its AI models, while Meta has been developing its own MTIA accelerators for similar workloads.

The company is on the lookout for engineers with chip design experience to join its “custom silicon team,” as highlighted in a recent job listing.

Anthropic has not yet responded to a request for comment.
