Anthropic is Seeking Talent for Its AI Chip Design Team

According to Business Insider, Anthropic is assembling a team to create custom chips tailored specifically for AI applications.

The developer of Claude has expressed plans to partner on both hardware and models in order to enhance the speed and efficiency of its technology. Recently, The Information reported that Anthropic is considering a collaboration with Samsung for chip development.

This move to design proprietary chips reflects the increasing demand for Claude, as AI companies strive to secure numerous agreements related to AI infrastructure.

Anthropic has established partnerships with AWS, Google, Nvidia, and AMD for AI computing hardware. However, to scale effectively and address the rising demand, reliance on external resources alone is not enough.

Anthropic isn’t the only entity exploring this avenue; OpenAI revealed its Jalapeño chip, created by Broadcom, specifically for inference tasks back in June. Google DeepMind has consistently utilized Alphabet’s TPU chips for its AI models, and Meta is developing its own MTIA accelerators for similar purposes.

The company is actively recruiting engineers with expertise in chip design to join its “custom silicon team,” as highlighted in a recent job listing.

Anthropic has not yet responded to a request for comment.
