Greenkeeper shows off damage after lion kill at Skukuza Golf Club

An incredible wild sighting played out on Monday, 12 August on the ninth green in front of the Skukuza Golf Club’s restaurant.

According to Jean Rossouw, the club’s greenkeeper, several members were relaxing on the deck just after 19:00, enjoying some drinks and dinner, when two lionesses caught an impala on the green.

According to Rossouw, the lions started feasting on it.

Shortly after, four hyenas came along and tried to get in on the action.

What happened next stunned the onlookers.

A crocodile emerged from the nearby river onto the green, after which the lions made away with the carcass and the reptile started to feast on the remaining scraps.

In the video, the hyenas’ cheekiness and opportunistic ways were on display as they tried to get closer to the crocodile for a bite as well.

Skukuza Golf Club is known as the ‘wildest’ course in the world for good reason!

On Tuesday, Rossouw described the aftermath of the previous night’s “dinner party” and how he will ensure that the greens return to their usual top-notch state.

Writing on their Facebook page on Tuesday, the Skukuza Golf Club posted: “Once the Lions were done enjoying their dinner the Hyenas and crocodiles cleaned up the rest. Dinner guests that clean up after themselves? A bargain we would say. 😅

“Stay tuned for a message from Jean, our greenkeeper, about the state of the greens after the dinner party.”
