Dumisani Dlamini on daughter Doja Cat

Actor and dancer Dumisani Dlamini, the father of American musician Doja Cat, claims that they communicate.

DUMISANI DLAMINI SAYS DOJA CAT IS SET TO VISIT SA

During his interview on Ikwekwezi FM, the proud father spoke lovely about the Kiss Me More rapper, further revealing her full Zulu names.

“We are on speaking terms. We communicate on the phone,” Dlamini said when asked about his daughter.

Addressing reports about his alleged absence in her life, he claimed it was a lie.

“My daughter will be visiting. We are currently planning her visit. My child will be coming,” he said.

DOJA CAT LABELS HER FATHER A DEADBEAT

Earlier this month, Doja Cat updated her X bio with the words: “My dad’s a deadbeat but I did well.”

Most recently, the Paint The Town Red hitmaker shot up trends lists after she took to her Instagram account to write: “Dad, let me know when/if you need me to re-up your makeup cabinet because you are a b*tch.”

The 28-year-old doubled down on her remarks in the comments section, saying: “[He] gave me a lazy eye and dipped.”

However, before the day was up, she seemingly had a change of heart and changed her caption to: “JK [Just Kidding] Love you, I was mad.”

MUSICIAN SAYS SHE’S NEVER MET HER FATHER

Dlamini met Doja Cat’s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, while doing a Sarafina! tour in the 1990s.

In 2020, when the Grammy-award-winning artist met Whoopi Goldberg, who co-starred with her father on Sarafina!, she said: “I’m just thinking about my dad because he was in Sarafina!, so seeing and meeting you is like crazy.”

When Doja Cat told Goldberg her dad’s name, the veteran actress was shocked.

“Get out of her…a good man, really a good man,” said Goldberg.

In an interview last year with US broadcaster Ebro Darden on his Apple Music 1 show, Doja Cat opened up about her father.

“No, I’ve never met my dad,” she said.

‘SHE GOT HOLD OF ME’

Responding to the clip in an interview with Metro FM, Dlamini said he had also been trying to find his daughter.

“I have been looking for my daughter as well. You mustn’t forget these Americans. Americans will always want to have something to cause a stir, so that she stays in the media and is talked about around the world.

“I have tried to search for my baby and the company that runs her entertainment has been blocking me. They know that if I could get hold of her, maybe she will disappear from the picture … I know my daughter, wherever she is, is looking for me.”

He further said Doja Cat contacted him before she was famous.

“She got hold of me. We spoke. We connected. Now, at this time when she is there and on top, she has to grab the whole world[‘s attention], especially in SA because she is a South African and her daddy is here. It’s a made up thing”.
